A Studio Practice Shaped by Time & Place

Casey Smith is a born-and-raised Memphis artist with more than 45 years of painting experience and over 30 years working primarily in oil. His work has been part of the city’s visual landscape since the mid-1990s, appearing in local restaurants, historic homes, community spaces, and private collections.

Rooted in classical fundamentals and informed by decades of studio practice and teaching, his paintings reflect a sustained commitment to craft, structure, and visual storytelling—balancing restraint with expression and tradition with a contemporary voice.

Rather than presenting a chronology, this site offers a window into an ongoing studio practice.
